New GNG Mid Drive Brushless 60V650W

Hello all.

I was looking at Ebikes now that I ride my bike to work most of the time (09 trek Fuel EX 5.5)
and was wondering if this kit would fit?
I am mechanically inclined, but alas all my tinkering time has been spent on radio controlled stuff and as such don't know really anything about the modding bike scene.
from what I gather, the trek uses a 90 mm bottom bracket that is in fact pressed fit into the frame? And this kit is for 68 mm bottom brackets? The bottom bracket is measured by how wide the bracket is correct? Not the diameter?

Could I get away with using some custom spacers to widen the kit to fit a 90mm BB

Thanks

Edit*

I forgot to add, If there is a better option for my type of bike, I am all ears.
I live about an hour from Yosemite National forest. So think all mountains and hills.

What's the primary purpose of use going to be? You're probably better off jumping on craigslist and picking up another bike to convert.

Mostly it will be used for commuting to work about a mile away. But I want to be able to use it for trail rides that populate this area.

hi, any one has issues with it, I musing it enduro/freeride style, lots of. rear chain issue, hope I found the right length now, plus you need a chain stuff to prevent it to entail on jumps...if there is to much tension in the rear it was ok but lot of chain breaks...stilll running @ stock, puted some blue/red loctite on every screw,

does anyone know the tool for the freewheel on the front crankset ? it unscrew, and stop behind the cranckset....

Getting your rear chain to hold is an art form and not an exact science on a full suspension bike with a mid drive motor. Depending on your bike configuration, derailleur, ect... Many people drop to single cog in the back and put on a bmx chain. Fixes the premature wear and tear, chain drops and chain breaks. Make sure you got your alignment as best you can. The addition of the gng parts tends to mess up the alignment of the chain between the front chain-ring and the back sprockets, on most bikes.

seems ok for me now, any idea of the tool for the freewheel on front front chain-ring ?

Any four lug freewheel removal tool should work. Just remove the crank arm and freewheel from the chainring/adapter thingy.

mmh I'm talking about that one (other side just ..)

undo the 4 bolts, to get the freewheel out.

The new freewheel (has a steel colored lock ring and no fanphy lettering) that comes with this kit sucks, I disassembled both of my GNG freewheels (1.0 kit and this new kit) and the one on this 60v kit has larger pawls that were much more damaged than the fanphy freewheel which I ran much longer so they must be made from cheaper metal.

does any one know the peak /continuous Amp of the stock controller ? I do not know it as I just use a LIPO buzzer to detect low voltage :D teh very light system.
thks

It is like the 48 volt one. 22 AMP max.

As on page 4 of this thread the LVC is tested in the video to be 40v.. to me that seems ok on a 48v lipo set up but low on a 60 VOLT.. :?

Is the LVC adjustable.. Does the controller come with a PC interface to adjust anything?

Thanks
Jon

There's no simple way to adjust the LVC on these very simple controllers supplied by GNG. Perhaps it might be easier than putting together your own BMS from a kit. There's also the option of running Low Voltage alarms on each of your intended Zippy Packs. If you get a Cycle Analyst or something like it, you could set your own LVC for the entire pack.

There is some discussion regarding the 60V controller in the main GNG thread (it's probably buried in this thread too):

Hi guys,
anyone run one of these with a rear hub motor?
Hows the performance or lack of? Just wondering if the hub motor would cancel out some of the
power of the GNG :?: :?:

Which one? A replacement stock controller or the Lyen controller many of us are using?

here is the thread of that setup. http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=53268

what is the diffrent between YPI7575C fet and hy1808 fet that is the one that came with my 60v controller.

So I bought a chain drive 48V450W version of this from GNG and am using LR's sheets so I can get rid of that horribly noisy tensioner.

When using LR's sheets the stock chain becomes too short. I "assumed" that the chain was #219.

However I have not read a straightforward answer as to what chain actually comes with this. Note the stock chain versus the new #219 chain i just bought. 11T primary sprocket fits OK but the larger sprocket is not OK.

So what is the chain that comes stock? Where can I buy new primary sprockets? (Motor and Jackshaft)

Looks like its 8mm chain on the primary stock and not 219 chain.

There are bolt on options for motor sprockets, chain and higher toothed wheel sprockets.

Wheel sprockets in 44, 54, 63 and 72 tooth.

Motor sprockets in 10 & 13 tooth double D bore.

Extra chain

Thanks for the info. Order a couple of these parts for spare. But I am still looking for stock 60volt controller.

If you need a controler, and If I were you I would order a controler with 20S and a little more amps =) power is an addiction,
If you order order @least a second BB
and if you got strong hills/enduro DH, a 34/36 is better than a 32 with stock frist reduction...

I moved to a Short cage SAINT (DH) derailler, experience will tell if it still derail...and if I got again so many chain breaks...
