    Blown Controller

^had a problem with one of my controllers going into revurse when it would rain untill i potted the whole frocking thing in conformal spray and desoldered those nasty revurse leads off at the board

swap out 2 of the phase wires and revurse becomes forward.... ;)

Cost of Semiconductor Switching per 1,000 watts?

use i do mean transferring energy by means of inductance and i do realize that direct contact may be more efficient but it also causes concerns of safety and maintenance due to corrosion and having to have a brush system on cars it just becomes a nightmare having track works for light rail...

Cost of Semiconductor Switching per 1,000 watts?

it would be far easier to have a air cored transformer setup so that voltage and amperage are not that much of a issue something similar to the wireless charging pads many are using for cellphones/game controllers etc. only have the primary windings in the road itself allowing passerby ev’s to...

    Blown Controller

we have a wiki??? when did this happen and btw i love the idea of using old solder wick to beep up traces .. sounds about as good as me going down to the hardwear store to buy solid strand house wiring to strip and solder in for the same thing (10 gauge or better for me usualy 2-3 strands wide...

    Blown Controller

one thing i love to use when taking off a solderd through hole component is solder wick all it is is a flat braided copper wire with an arsload of flux on it to use simply get your iron hot ... place said solder wick over connection point ... push wick into connection point with soldering...

    Blown Controller

it looks to me like it is your fet driver that you are looking at ... if after replacing the fet your controller wonmt light up just try mirroring the other drivers for the other sets of fets serfice moun dosnt men non repairable it just meens harder to repair this being said i have read how...

is hot glue a good potting compound??

btw i pot hotter circuits in red automotive silicone (works awsome for hall sensors in hub motors) i dont know about you guys but i like the option of getting back into my electronics later and for me a plastic epoxy just dosnt let me do that this being said i like my controller poted...

is hot glue a good potting compound??

this dose of course matter what hot glue you use and at what temp your circuit runs at some hot glue melts at higher temperature then others I use the highest temp glue I can find for my lower temp projects pic of 1.5 year old glue potted circuit incomming

How do I make this slow and strong?

in conclusion slow- lower voltage torque - higher amperage than your controller can deliver

How do I make this slow and strong?

i would need a little more info on the motor but i would say 24v eg. 2 sla batteries in series should give you your desired speed with most motors but do be advised amperage is what will give you the torque you want other options would be a geared motor or a mid drive motor LFP has a lot of...

is hot glue a good potting compound??

ive used hot glue on many of my lower temp projects and it works grate anf i have not had a isue with it ... so i would say yes go for it bro my homemade 12v voltage regulator is potted in hot glue and has been running fine on my bike rode year round for about 18 months now wothout any problem

Newbie build -- please look over my component choices.

btw i think the reason i went with 10 ah cells instead of 15 is the c rating is higher on the 10ah that being said it was higher still on the 8ah cells but i could not justify the price/weight gain for the increase in proformance i am now bursting 5 c and running a solid 3c contuinueus on thease...

i8 have to agree with you here dogman i dont pull large on my batteries past 60-70% dod as the voltage will sag past the batteries min voltage and after some hard learning exp with a doc pack and no bms last winter i have learned my lesson although it still dosnt hurt having a grosly overrated...

i dont know about your exp with the headway cells but i find them fine at 10c mabe the older ones were lower current rated but at 10c they barly get warm (i am using the 10ah cells myself and dont realy know about the 15 ah)

Charging Headways with 2 MK3x8SMT BMS units.

3.8v is way to hot for headways (IMO) i ballance to 3.5 myself and have found that high enugh for me at 3.5v i find they have 98-110% capacity

Newbie build -- please look over my component choices.

no disrespect intended dogman but after having disk not only save me money in the long run by not needing pads every 1-2 weeks but also having had it save my life in less then ideal weather conditions i respectfully disagree with you on the v-brake is good enuf deal as soon as the rim gets wet...

Newbie build -- please look over my component choices.

stay away from a lower c rating on the battery or you will kill it ..... i love how headways handle but they are pricey grab a proper charger and save yourself the headache of trying to mod something that will take hrs.. maybe days or weeks to mod and test (doesn’t have to be a fast charger...

Charging Headways with 2 MK3x8SMT BMS units.

to me it sounds like your chager is set up for 15s lifpo4 or another chem altogether i would take a reading of the open circuit voltage the charger outputs and go from there please post resalts at this point so we can figure out where to go from there it could also be that said battery system...

shunt mod via a voltage divider

pin one is maked by the indent (dot) in the chipset and the dot on the board and you count up the numbers in a counter clockwias fashion by the looks of it it would seem you have identifyed pin 34

shunt mod via a voltage divider

one thing i have just noticed is it seems that the regen current would be almost unlimited with the circuit turned on :O (not taking into consideratoin battery voltage, ir of batteries, kv of motor, losses through wiring, and bikes current speed) although the first voltage hack i did would work...

shunt mod via a voltage divider

i do see what you are trying to do and i found it overly complicated and unnecessary .. not to say i don’t respect the effort being put in as it looks considerable i figure to just keep it simple and there is less that can and or will go wrong (for myself) i have spent far to long trying to...
