Hi Naeem,
Best of luck with the build and I hope that hand heals soon.

Thank you very much for the best wishes, my hand already feels great. It is prayers that reach the Al-Mighty who decides of our lives.
I want to and I always do think out of the box, therefore, something I create something innovative but sometime a complete failure as well. That is the part of science which I have to accept with a heavy heart. I hope this time I do not fail. I am sure I will do some good to this community with my efforts.
Yours Respectfully

Also, when you apply the brakes (the front wheels will have brakes, right?), you are going to put a lot a fore-aft stress on that front subframe, so you will want to add some triangulating tie rods from the ends of the suspension back to the frame a couple feet behind the front suspension. You may have already thought about that.
-Warren.

Definitely there will be tie rods but about the brakes, I am intending to use a motorcycle wheel (lightest one available) in order for a firmer grip and a reliable drum brake meant for greater weight. Weight distribution will be in such a way that I might not need front breaks or may be light breaks.

about the setup your explained "triangulating tie rods....... couple feet behind suspension" I didn't get your point. Elaborate if you please.

looking forward for your support and help.

Because weight will shift forward during braking, even if you are doing it from the rear wheel, it will take weight off the rear wheel and reduce it's braking ability, sometimes a little, often drastically, sometimes completely.

Also, with only a rear brake, you only have that tire's contact patch with the ground to give friction to stop the vehicle.

With front brakes, then not only do you now have up to three times the size of contact patch with the ground to brake with, but if you have to stop really quickly from a high speed (or from a lower speed with a greater load), the front brakes will actually have greater braking power than the rear, not just because there are two of them and twice the contact area, but becuase all the vehicle's weight is shifted forward to press down on them.

In a turn, the braking situation is more complicated, but it stil results in more weight on a front wheel than on the rear, making front brakes a lot more effective.

Interesting project, will follow this one forward. WHat are you planning to power it with?
Nice to hear that your hand wasn't seriously hurt!

I am not too fond of the god almighty mumbojumbo on this electric vehicle forum tho.
No disrespect, but keep in mind that only a dwindeling part of the educated world shares those views.
I Shall be powering it with two homemade brushed electric motors, the same one I have used with in my project titled "Very very low cost electric bike".

Moreover, I am sure that my strong believe in one God almighty wouldn't hurt any one's feelings. I understand that I have been given the mission as Muslim to serve the creatures on earth with what ever talent and energy I have. I hope no body will mind this belief of mine on this web forum, and which is the belief of one of the largest religion in this world known as Islam.

With much respect and warm regards.

May God bless you all.

Thanks man.
I used to sing in a radio station in my city long ago. Had a group of friends we used to call our selves "The Malangans" (means the happy people, who have no care of the worldly glitters). Those were good old days I can't forget I was a young chap in my mid 20s.
Thanks again.

Well said.

I thought this was more than a little patronising...

How can that be patronizing? It is the truth. To claim otherwise is more than alittle blindfolding yourself.
I have no issue with people believeing whatever they want. May it be muslim, hindu, christian, scientology you name it.
But the truth stands that religion is losing the grip in educted societies. The trend has been happening for the past century or so, with increasing speed.
Its no rapid turnover, but moves faster in the west where apostasy isnt punished by death.

The reason for my first comment was not to stomp on Naems beliefs. I do not mind whatever anyone believes, as long it is kept away from the ebike technical forum.
I am not talking about my beliefs that my dog happened to be my creator or that I magically appeared from a birds beak, or that the great mountain delivered me to my mum.
It is irrelevant, its unintresting and it is offensive to others. (in this ebike context)
It would not be offensive if it was scientifically proven, but since it is not, I am strongly against spreading it here.

That should widen the picture. I do not want to start a religious debate.
Keep in mind tho, there is no reason whatsoever for religion to stand above critisism and sound reason. (If this might be the reason to find my past comment patronizing)

Sorry for the turn, back to topic.

He's not trying to convert anyone or convince anyone he's right, he's just expressing his beliefs. Just like you. If that is so intolerable to you, well, nobody's forcing you to read it. -_^

I really don't like getting into any kind of debates, but I think here I'll put in my two cents: If someone has a thread of their own for their own project(s), I'd say that they can say or talk about whatever they feel like within that thread, as long as it doesn't violate any of the forum rules (I guess also if it isn't libelous of someone else, but I don't think I'll make that call myself).

When people don't like what's said in that thread, they can always just not read it. ;)

If it was something constantly harped on in other people's threads, that might be different, but I don't see a problem here in this one.

The only rule regarding religion is to essentially not try starting (or linking to) religious debates or attacks. So let's all just let this one drop, please?

As a strong and devoted Christian man, I must say I (believe it or not) agree that this forum is not the area to share our views unless asked. However, I also agree with Amberwolf about this being Naeem's thread.

I have shared my personal convictions with many here on this forum, but by PM, not publicly. If I earn the right to be heard by someone through caring and mutual respect, then I will share my beliefs with them and that is normally only if I am asked.

Anyway, the Golden Rule is actually a Christian rule "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." How many people quote that without realizing they are quoting scripture? How about "You reap what you sow"? These are directly out of the bible.

Point is, it is nearly impossible to prevent offenses toward other people when conversing with them. Yes, we need to be sensitive to others. We should also realize that when sharing our own personal feelings that we are offended, we may be offending someone else by doing so.

Anyway, I think we are all big boys on this forum. A mention of God should be something we can all live with or ignore if we want to.

Matt

Dear All;

I am very sorry if I have hurt any body’s feelings and if I have then I can leave the forum with no hard feelings. My father said to me once that the biggest sin in the world is to hurt some ones feelings. From that since I have never done it but if I have done so then I am so sorry please forgive me for I have done it unintentionally. I never meant to interfere in any body’s believes which is strictly prohibited in my case. We have in our community all religions and we never interfere in any ones business, but it is habit of most religious people like my self to mention God (Allah) in our daily talk, it is quite natural and no one (Christens, Hindus, and Sikhs etc.) never minds it in our comunity. Please forgive me for my behaviour but this how I am, I can’t help it. I am finding it quite difficult to choose the correct words to represent my feelings, therefore, please, consider it as my apology.

All I want is to heal the world and make it a better place for every living creature that breaths O2.

Respectfully
Naeem

There is absolutely no reason for you to apologise, Naeem.

Let's get back to the trike. :D

Education is defined as the disciplined habit of mind and I am an educated person and I would certainly behaive like one. If you and every one here believes so then I would love to go on with my trike's work because I have done so much till now after my last post here.

I went to the junkyards in search of a rear wheel of a motorcycle. I must say that Junkyards of my city are full of so useful things. I wish I had a lot of time to make so many things of daily use and so much time to think because when I am idle and only thinking, I am making a lot of stuff in my mind and I am very good at it.

I bought following stuff to assemble rear wheel:

Second hand stuff for Rs. 500/- are:
1) Leather break shoes along with its plate
2) Axel
3) Large Gear base along with an old Gear which needs to be replaced for being quite wornout and not in a usable condition.
4) Rubber Holders which holds the gear assembly to the wheel (I will post detailed picture later on)

A complete wheel for Rs. 900/- comprising of a laced rim to a hub having break drum which needs replacement of inner drum. Both bearings in a very good condition which I consider as my good luck.

Some of the spokes were broken so I had to buy 10 Pcs for Rs. 70/-

I decided to go for a larger gear (bought it for Rs. 180/- which needed some work for which I had to hire help as I do not have a lyth. Mr. Arshad is a local and expert professional mechanic and owns a lyth who helped me in doing the stuff for totally free. While others were asking for Rs. 300/- for the same work. Mr. Arshad is a very good man and as I explained to him about the forum and my built he mentioned about his visit to England and all the other stuff. He became my friend and he did it for humanity's sake. I salute to his humanitarian behaviour.

Now I have a larger gear on it having 42 tooth and a larger chain then a bicycle would have, although everything has become a lot heavier which worries me but I want it to be very durable as well.

wish me luck guys.

Man Naeem you are beautiful...I learned something from you today...you and your father. It is a nice ideal not to offend fellow human beings...especially in a public forum where words can be so hurtful..and maybe these words will last forever..who knows. It is best to be nice...and not offend anyone..words to live by direct from Pakistan.

For now on based on your advice i will try to be a nicer person...not just on the forums but in life. I am not going to post negative rants about people and do my best not to offend...and forgiveness all that.

Your dad sounds like a really sweet guy...and your lucky to have him. I never got good advice like that...my dad was mean, beer drinking, wife beating, breath stinking, SOB and I hope he rots in hell for the damage he inflicted especially on my brother, i make a point of siphoning gas out of his car tank every time i visit him......umm umm...

Yeah please...lets continue with the trike build. But Naeem i just wanted to say you just seem like your from a different planet your so nice...i wish to learn from you and your country. If your for real..if this isnt a hoax...this thread is pretty special.

I also have a very good idea to get this build of yours into high gear...but i will save it for later cuz this post is getting too long.

I completely agree. Keep up the good work, Naeem. :D

Great find with all those parts for the wheel. Is that a drum brake in the hub?

Hi Naeem,

Keep up the great work, remember the world is full of opinion and views, do the shopping approach, take what you want and throw the rest away.

Can't wait to see that trike running down the street

Zenon

So their are some things you can learn from Pakistan's top scientist AQ Khan...he was the mad dog that not only got Pakistan the nuclear bomb, but also sold the technology, to North Korea, Iran, Libya (yes libya) and a mystery 4th customer...well the only quote i remember reading of him is "Pakistan is so engineering backwards it can't even build a proper bicycle" So if AQ Khan was right...Naeem does not have a good selection of components even off the shelf bicycle parts over there...especially combing junkyards...to build a descent bike. Naeem our friend is in a very difficult battle to scrap together a bike.

So what to do?

Do what AQ Khan did to bring the bomb to Pastian..if aq khan could build a thermal nuclear bomb, so can Naeem build a bomb of an electric trike...:

#1 Steal ebike secrets from across the world. Naemm is doing a good job posting here and gathering intelligence....but here we all share so dont worry Naemm we dont call that stealing...around here we believe in ebike prolification.

#2. Import the technology in. Aq Khan wasnt trying to build a factory full of centrifuges using pakistan components...he had stuff boxed up and sent to him from around the world to build his bomb factory.

I think its time we start sending some of our spare parts to Pakistan.

Naemm...what do you think of us shipping you boxes of bicyle parts to work with. Will your country post office stop the boxes from coming in? What if we mark "gift" on the box.

I know i can get some stuff together that you might find valuable including a helluva nice electric scooter motor i got right now...and some other various components that are just taking up space.

But first tell us if you would be able to accept gifts from your american friends, and will your country stop us from sending stuff in?

Naemm...can i try sending you some ebike stuff from america and see if it gets there? Do you think it will get there?
