Nice work on the brake bracket. How does the suspension react when you hit the rear brake hard? Does it bounce or chatter the rear tire when it locks up?

I rode mine around for a bit with no rear brake and it was such a relief to finally have one again. Just an FYI, That caliper mount on the swing-arm is at the standard IS location like an oem bike so you can always use a post mount caliper and adapter in the future. The only issue is that its located for a 150mm wide hub. I figured its a lot easier to add spacers for narrow hubs.

I wouldnt hesitate to tie a bike down like that motorcycle in a truck. Its so light that you wouldn't need to compress the forks very far to get adequate tension. I think the issue with fork stress is more of a problem with full weight motorcycles. You have to pull them down so hard to secure them that you end up torturing the bottom of the fork stroke where it wasn't designed to be for long periods of time. Another often overlooked thing is the premature wear on suspension parts when hauling vehicles because the suspension is still working while being hauled. Again a bike is so light that without a rider its probably not stroking far or at all. If it were a 3000lb racecar I would block it under the frame when hauling it to save the shocks.

That bike looks fun!

Great build btw, thanks for the progress images.
Regarding transport of motorcycles best practice is to strap down the wheels (using a half moon over the unsprung tyre), and let the suspension behave normally. I learn't this from a neighbor who runs a motorcycle transport business.
The problem is this approach is difficult without tie downs that anchor to the bed of the truck/ trailer. The problem with suspension compression is higher probability of loosening/ shifting straps.

So since I permanently series connected my new battery pack It now takes three separate charges at 6s to complete my charge cycle...Long story short this put a damper into my weekend riding when I wanted to get out, my pack was not charged...

So im attempting a bulk charger setup with two extra RAB dimmable PSU's I've obtained. I threw them in series and it put out close to 93volts! So now I have to throw a 0-10v dimmer into the circuit and see if I can dial the voltage down to make this thing usable.

Anyone ever tried these dimmable led PSU's? I am hoping it works is it seems it should but it will still take 5 hrs to fully charge my new pack at 2.1a CC

So this is fairly crude...but I just couldn't take another ride with a stupid battery backpack and a bomber cord attaching me to the frame. Took a few hours of hacking away at a piece of aluminum which used to be a push button display. I simply tek screwed it to the frame/threw some gorilla tape over it and went for a few rides. Surprisingly I kind of like it. Put it on the left hand side since the motor and sprockets are on the right hand. Im sure it would be slightly in the way if I was pedaling all day but I didn't mind it at all.

It's cool, and expandable to 2p if you want! My lipo are similarly protectively encased and slung over top tube in panniers, then taped and wrapped down like a mummy. Very secure and protected, with the option of quick release (via knife along the bottom lol.) I'd recommend getting a layer of hard plastic on the outside so the lipo isn't easily damaged if you drop the bike etc. You could cut up some harbor freight or plano organizers or something?

I'm curious why you're using those supplies - 5 hours is a long time? The mw 30v hrp's were like $35/pc and seem dependable @ 14a.

Im trying to use those RAB PSU because I got them both free. Do you have a link to the meanwells?

So I finally let someone ride my bike, my friend Anthony who rides motocross and wasn't scared to jump on, he was amazed at the power and almost flipped it over at 30mph plus pulling power wheelies. But then he got a little cocky and hopped a curb and got me a pinch flat on my rear tire...

Now I gotta pull it apart and throw a tube in, and it wasn't even my doing!

One of the top three characteristics of electric motors is the instant torque at low RPMs. The Agera combines a turbo V8 with a large electric motor (There's actually three motors, long story). You could call it a hybrid, but the electric motor is there for performance, not to save the trees.

The battery is not huge, so it's quiet "electric only" mode is short range. This is why 2-strokes have 5 and 6-speed transmissions. Once you get the engine up to the high power RPMs, you don't want it to ever go back down to a low RPM. The place where an E-motorcycle can shine is the starting line, plus....it's easy to add 2WD. When other riders are constantly shifting up and down, you only have a throttle or brake.

Wow sweet find, the dimensions are spot on. 3.5kg is a little light- iirc bht weighs 11lbs w/ a bit of that in the pedestal base. Also, if it spins 6k rpm @ 20s that's at least 2x the kV. My build would need 11/110 sprockets to keep it under 40mph, so the higher kV doesn't allow easy utilization of the high voltage that medium weight mid drives benefit from.

So that's two strikes imo but it's still curious, I'd perhaps buy one to try. I'd try to get Alex to list them on aliexpress so there's no shipping surprises, or MAKE SURE full shipping/tax/duty is quoted 'to your door'.

Skeetab those meanwells come up on ebay sometimes for ~35$ (last year there was some). http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mean-Well-HRP-300-24-AC-to-DC-Power-Supply-Single-Output-24-Volt-14-Amp-336-Watt-/112196248530?hash=item1a1f6ae3d2:g:KSoAAOSwHMJYH3P0 There might be other similar models or voltages that have 'deal' pricing at anytime. You just want a model that 'current limits' so current doesn't runaway /hiccup while voltage is held down during the charge.

I just bought one of those motors...At $99 paypal free shipping its worth it just to find out!

Thanks for the link

I think your eastgem story was what stopped me from buing that motor a week ago. I was wondering why everyone wasnt ordering these when I saw $99!

The posted 6000 rpms had me figure the motor might br different. Also the faceplate is missing. Eastgem seems to have some powerful complete bikes with this motor using 90 tooth sprockets.
Customs isn't really an Eastgem issue. Could happen with any Chinese shipment. Always wonder why they don't crack down on all the flea bay stuff getting sent to this U.S. from China. I have ordered tens of thousands of dollars of stuff from China and haven't had any customs fees. Only once from something from Canada of all places

It looks like eastgem is growing; the bikes are looking nice and some things are listed with shipping included so it may be safe to assume the documentation is taken care of. 100$ is an unbeatable price and if it's lighter it stands on it's own for lighter build- thanks for grabbing one skeetab it will be awesome to see what it's all about!

I'm guessing those are the 2.4" holly rollers, and man I'm likin mine. Great footprint on a 32mm rim with the trade off being lighter sidewalls. iirc I'm running kenda hd tubes and slime from amazon, with no issues.

Ya I may have to switch to a DH tire in the future, but I know bike tires so I don't think it would have happened if I was riding it. This kid was being really aggressive like it was a dirt bike. Which is good for testing purposed.

Ya lets hope the motor shows up, but since its paypal im not worried about it...Ill get my money back

What do you guys think of this PSU? Can use two in series and bulk charge at 4.2amps? my pack is 18s as of now so would be pretty good fit

You are in luck! The Satiator is for 36-103v setups.

Even have them on amazon so we can save on shipping.

No problem. I can send you all sorts of links as long as I don't have to pay for them. I've noticed you have to keep an eye on Grin. Justin just comes out with all kinds of new stuff but doesn't push it on the board here like he could. I find something new there every time I check.

That $99 motor looks promising for projects. Looks like the cyclone 3k watt without the gearbox on it. Seems like a great find if its really that cheap. Are you going to try it on the genesis or something else?

I think you should put it in the chassis of the FUTR Beta!!

Got some time to change the flat tire on the bike today, setup a work bench out of materials sitting around and made life a tad easier. With the thru axle it was really easy I didn't have to break the chain or unbolt the motor.

Checked all the sprocket bolts to make sure they were tight, and adjusted the chain tensioners

Then threw a piece of construction velco on the battery tray to stop the batteries from sliding back while riding crazy!

So that company with the M3000 motor emailed me asked me for my phone number, and now they have sent me some sort of tracking number...So lets hope its all set and comes in the mail without any issues.

phone number is probably for customs to call you demanding their $200 when it shows up. :D

Oh geez! (holds finger over file claim button)

Let's hope you don't get hit with customs!

So, are all of these motors basically the same? Meaning the Cyclone is the BHT with a gear reduction, Lightening rods has a different motor shaft and the BHT doesn't have a gear reduction. Makes sense, as they all have such a similar housing design. Obviously they do also have different KVs. Being made in China, I imagine the same factory produces them all. Interesting.

Is the Cyclone really a BHT? I assume you are referring to the Cyclone 3000 watt model.
