Having only just discovered this forum I thought I would post a project I have been working on over the past few months.
In short it is a ME1616 motor capable of 55kw peak in a custom steel trellis chassis, CBR 954 swing arm (the only production swing arm that would fit as I wanted) and currently an RS250 front end but looking to source a 600 or 1000 front end that is designed to take the weight. I am still yet to source but am planning to run a Sevcon Gen 4 Size 6 controller with a custom battery pack.
The motor was an easy choice with a supplier close by in Australia and produces good power without weighing to much, they also supply the controllers so when the chassis is finished an I have the funds will look to order. The battery pack on the other hand I am yet to decide what to do, I have seen many people using LiFePo4 cells which package well, are relatively cheap but dont have the power density of Lithium Ion. I have no electrical back ground so have limited knowledge but have learned a lot online. Would love to hear peoples thought and experiences with battery packs. Want to have at least 100km "road riding" range.
I will post up new pictures as I progress but this is where I am at so far.
Showing how the swing arm will fit with the motor.
Progress on frame in jig.
Progress shot with front end attached.
Progress of rear shock connection.
Rear shock mounted w close up. You can see how this swing arm was destined for the project.
Linkage.
Rolling chassis almost complete.
Motor mount plate cut from 16mm Ali plate, still needs a little work.
Still lots of work to do but slowly making progress, look forward to hearing peoples thoughts and ideas.
