Hey guys,

I've always had a thing for hillclimbs, and last week we finally got the time to head up to Mount Mitchell (the highest peak east of the Mississippi), to see how our Transition 311 would do on the hill.

The trike is powered with a single Astro 3215, 12S, 25Ah Lithium Polymer, and an HV160. It's gearing-limited at 30 mph.

Here's the video:

Here are some stats from the ride:
Distance: 5 miles
Vertical gain: 1410 feet
Average grade: 5.3%
Max grade: 12%
Efficiency on climb (5 miles): 55 wh/mile
Efficiency over entire ride back to starting point (10 miles): 30 wh/mile
Average speed: 29.0 mph
State of charge at start of ride: 80%

This first run was a great baseline, we're excited for a lot more climbs to come.

Love the video, can I ask what you used to make the data in the corner, is this an iPhone app or something?

Cheers,
Kudos

Hey Kudos,

It's an application called Dashware, it uses the GPS data from the Contour GPS helmetcams, and allows you to format it in a dashboard however you'd like. It's downloadable from dashware.net, it's designed for Windows. It's some pretty nice software!
