I'm running a voilamart 750-1000w rear hub.
With a 52v upp battery.

Everything is good,works fine.
My question is my rear hub cable is about 4 feet.
I don't like the fact that to remove rear wheel I have to disconnect from controller box.

Would it be wise to install a disconnect say about a foot from hub?
The cable consists of the 3 12gauge wires and the 5 20gauge wires.

I thought I can install 1- 3pin 12g and 1 -5pin connector .

The 5 pin is no issue. Easy to find.
But I can't find a 3 pin 12 gauge. Waterproof
The 9 pin julet is 16 gauge for the 3 larger wires.

Anyone know where I can find a 12 gauge 3 pin Waterproof connector?
And is this a good idea to install disconnect?

Putting in a disconnect plug is a good idea.

Putting your controller inside a box is a bad idea. It has cooling fins for a reason, and those only work right when air can move over them. If your controller is in a place where air can flow over it, it's more than likely in a place where you can unplug it easily.

I use Anderson Powerpole 75 connectors for phase wires on controllers rated higher than about 20A on the battery side. For smaller ones, I use Powerpole 45 connectors. 5.5mm bullet connectors from XT90 plugs (but used separately from the plug housings) also work well if you give them some heat shrink tubing for insulation.

Does it make a difference that my controller box has a fan on back. And 2- 1" holes on front bottom? Building box right now. 16930046301382374887880984909880.jpg
