This motor looks crazy powerfull.. and i got one..

On RC model boats they sometimes have a water pickup tube mounted near the propeller so it can be used for water cooling without a separate circulating pump. The propeller provides the water pressure. You could pass the water through a plate on the controller then go through the motor. It doesn't take a really large flow to provide a lot of heat dissipation.

Mr. Electric has a kayak that he ran with a small trolling motor. It was pretty fast compared to paddling. If you did a kayak with an inboard drive it could be pretty stealthy. Use the paddle just to fool people, like ghost peddling on a bike.

To really get some efficiency improvement, how about a kayak with hydrofoils?

Heres a couple of quick pics..

I ended up using the 5kw 48v version and not the 10kw version i originally bought...some reasons why..

Easer to drive with less expensive controller
Lighter by approx 10lbs compared to the 10kw
I think the watercooling is more effective on the 5kw since its only cooling one coil also...
More room in the cowel.. i can fit easily 48v 20ah lipo lol.. maybe 100v 20ah if i try to..
To also stay in a low budget range...

Something under 10ft so it doesn't need registration BS, but with a drive that has at least 20-30hp burst capability, because I'm going to be taking it in the ocean waves. :)
