Its amazing to hear people openly declare their disdain for, and open hostility toward the presence of bicyclists on the road. Motor vehicles are allowed on the roads by licensed permission precisely because they are deadly weapons. There needs to be an education campaign that results in drivers being scared to death of discharging their deadly weapons upon others, and full prosecution of those wielding their deadly weapons when they do.
As it is, drivers know there is no penalty for treating vulnerable road users as expendable.
