its from the cycle9 clearance that went on a couple months ago, unfortunately our friends there had to close so my emails have gone unanswered, im trying to connect this to one of lindas headway packs, i figured the battery would connect at the thicker 3 way red black orange connector with a pigtail sticking out, but when i connected it a spark came out, it was bigger than the spark my ebikekit gets when i hookup the battery so i kinda freaked and thought i should ask the gods here first, btw anyone know what controller this is? i dont think its the stock desheng controller bc the hub had andersons for the big yellow green blue (phase wires?) and a 5 jst for the hub signal wires that i had to break to connect to the rainbow harness, its the highest harness on the picture and they color matched perfectly, i know the other ones have to go to the brake and throttle, and this throttle reads battery level so the pigtail must go to that, but i just want to make sure, also, what is that orange wire for? im pretty sure this 3 wire connector is the only possible one for the battery because theyre the thickest wires, and the other connectors are spoken for to brakes, throttle, etc, plus the little pigtail connects to the throttle's battery meter

the kit was supposed to be a higher speed desheng 48v hub but the connectors dont match so i doubt its the original ESC controller

I can't clearly see all the different connectors and wires there, but I'd guess that you've got the right connector for battery power to controller.

Not sure, but it looks like you only have two of three phases hooked up there, in the pic. Cant' tell about the halls.

The controller itself looks like any of a dozen different kinds, including the 48V 40A Ecrazyman 12FET Iv'e got on CrazyBike2 right now, and a 36V 40A 12FET from EVAssemble (unknown original source) that is slated for the "normal" backup bike.

A spark is normal when connecting a battery to a controller, most of the time; bigger caps in teh controller make bigger sparks. That's why people sometimes make precharge circuits.

What does your watt meter or multimeter set to current show when you hook these up? Does current flow stay high, or just spike during connection and then drop to very low?

Also, some people skip a precharge, and leave the battery connected to the controller all the time, then leave the skinny wire (usually red) on the power connector not hooke dup to the battery, except when they are riding. That turns off the controller when not hooked to battery positive.

Dunno what the orange wire is. You might ahve to open the controller's end to see if you can tell where it solders to the board to.

Odd taht the label of teh controller would be peeled and scratched off like that.

edited with more pictures now

ive talked to linda and desheng, the large and loud spark is apparently 'normal' ? im gonna keep going tomorrow but its about as big as when i screwed something up on my 36v kit
