Ultra Motor A2B hub disassembly / repair

Nice work Yped. That excellent video will help anyone else with the same project in the future. One of the halls went out in one of these motors I rewired and not wanting to unspoke/respoke the whole wheel i just swapped the controller to a sensor-less unit so maybe i would recommend replacing...

    Aprilia Enjoy

I just returned home from a thoroughly enjoyable 40 min rain soaked ride. I think my 2Kw commuter is getting jealous of the time I am spending riding the Aprilia. This bike really needs a lithium upgrade. Anyone know offhand how many volts the stock controller can safely handle? I know this...

    Aprilia Enjoy

Cheers Tony. No, i didn't buy that one. I live in USA, Washington state. And Hiya Ken. Thank you and everyone else that has contributed here for all your input. About disabling the speed limiter: I am pretty sure I read about it in this thread but there are 37 pages here as of this posting...

    Aprilia Enjoy

I recently picked up an Enjoy for a reasonable price with the intent to modify it to a 36v system with a throttle. It looks to be very lightly used. to my surprise the original battery pack took a charge and seems to be fairly strong. it was kind of an underwhelming ride until I clipped the...

    BMS batteries any experience??

I bought a 48v 16s lifepo4 BMS from them. I played around with adding their inexpensive Anderson connectors and other such accessories into the order until it raised the already high shipping cost. it all showed up. it all worked. If I was looking for an entire system I would buy from a dealer...

evg global rear disc watch this video

This adapter has worked well on my EVG SX for 1000 miles so far. http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-MTB-Bicycle-Bike-Rear-Disc-Brake-Adapter-Kit-170mm-Black-/370996854961?pt=US_Brakes&hash=item566122c0b1 the 170mm kit was a centemeter or so too long. I had to remove the adjuster bar's lock nuts (I...

Can anyone help identify these lifepo prismatic cells?

I had to remove the fuse to get the plastic cover off. By "acting dead" I mean that the BMS's / PCB's wont supply voltage under load. (pack current is at around 53v.)

Can anyone help identify these lifepo prismatic cells?

avoided it as long as I could. like i say I have 3, all acting dead. so I am not too concerned with playing around with one of them.

Can anyone help identify these lifepo prismatic cells?

huh. guess I have 48 of these. #s all match (ya, after posting the pic i noticed the YLE and did a Google search. Doh!) http://www.yiklik.com/index.php/products/detail/23519 3c max continuous 10c max impulse all cells are between 3.3v and 3.35v So any one have an idea how these BMS's...

Can anyone help identify these lifepo prismatic cells?

I picked up 3 of these packs. the seller had little to no info on them. just that he got them out of a storage locker and that they have been sitting around for at least 8 months. the cells seem good. after opening up the cases all the packs read around 53V. I'm still determining if the BMS's...

Need help deciding on which kit to buy

"Advantage" is hard to quantify completely. Lifepo4 or LiNiMnCoO2 chemistry will be more plug and play, Lipo will give the most bang for the buck in terms of amps/watts per weight and dollar but will require a bit more hands on maintenance. it just depends on what you value the most. DC

Need help deciding on which kit to buy

good set up Wesnewell. with the added bonus of being Australian sourced. Kudos. I think Dand214 was saying the battery Battery pack Cellman has now is a decent option. And within the price range. DC

Need help deciding on which kit to buy

Hiya Jordan, Guess I'm the 1st to chime in here? Ive been very happy with my 500w direct drive motor kit and with my dealings with Cellman at EM3ev . http://em3ev.com/store/index.php?route=product/product&path=36&product_id=54 I used the least expensive shipping option (SAL I think it...

EVG Global 36v Ebike Stock rebuild

I found a cracked solder joint in one of my 36v 500w heinzmanns. pretty simple fix once I got the motor apart. just saying. there are many threads detailing the process of dis / reassembly around here. the quick version is remove the axle nuts and spacer on the cassette side, unscrew all the...

Ultra Motor A2B hub disassembly / repair

Just pulled another Ultramotor Hub apart using a large 3 arm automotive gear puller and decided to look at my old post to see if the instructions I wrote the 1st time were accurate. I noticed that I never mentioned that the hub halves are not keyed in any way so you should put a match mark...

I picked up a 24v Lee Iacocca EVG Ebike

The brake cut off is a hall-effect type switch activated by a small magnet on the brake lever. It has to be lined up perfectly to function, but you said they both look the same so It is probably in line and just broken. I don't think I have had one fail yet tho. I have had the plug wiggle loose...

I picked up a 24v Lee Iacocca EVG Ebike

you can look at the tag on the heinzmann hub motor to tell its voltage. there are two tags. one will read 24v 400w or 36v 500w. Stock, the evg's had decals on either side of the battery compartment which had the voltage as well. if you are just looking at a grainy picture on craigslist or an...

EVG ebike 24V, just purchase, need help to get running

the battery case contains 2 12 volt 12 amp hour sealed lead acid batteries wired in series. there is also a 40 amp(?) fuse inside. The batteries are pretty standard and available from almost any dealer. The green light on the charger indicates full charge, it shows as red while charging.

Iaccoca EVG SX as a donor bike

Iaccoca EVG SX as a donor bike

ya, good points Dogman. the largest chainring you can put up front without cutting the battery cover is a 42 tooth. that is with the stock chain guard removed. the smallest I have used on the back is a 12 tooth (7 speed cluster). from the looks of it an 11 tooth would probably rub against the...

    99 mph at 48 volts

so just to follow up, i tried all phase /sensor combinations and settled on one of the 3 that seemed smoothest in the right direction. this motor is still very fast. unloaded it spins up to 40mph. underway it runs very smooth and quiet, hits 29mph pretty easily on the flat and has decent hill...

    99 mph at 48 volts

so it was wrong wiring that time Amberwolf? funny, didn't lose the speedo magnet but a spoke nipple gave up and decided to rattle around inside the rim. oh ya, not wireless speedometers, neither of them. but ya, i agree 99 mph is totally unbelievable. I am pretty sure the phase/sensor wires...

    99 mph at 48 volts

So my buddy picked up a direct drive 48v 500w hub kit off of E-bay and asked me to help him put it on his bike. I installed it all and plugged it all together and it just shuttered. Well ok. I tried different phase wire combos till I found one that spun in the right direction and seemed to have...
