Common sense things to do to get ready for Coronavirus

Seems like the global consensus is to keep the schools open, let the super-spreaders catch it en-masse, pass it on, and build immunity. Of course it may have the side effect of killing off their aged family members, but apparently you have to crack some eggs... or so seems to be the case anyway.

Time will tell.

In socal, LA, San Diego and OC schools closed until after Easter Vacation, and who knows how much longer. There are food programs for indigent children; feel sorry for them.

Not a consensus then. Sorry.

Sad for the kids who rely on those school meals, but with the release of emergency funding hopefully it manages to somehow get food in their bellies. Soon, hopefully.

Maybe some rioting in LA

No eggs at the grocery store. Odd.
All the corporate bread was out of stock. Again Odd.
Yogurt was half stocked, same with butter.
Condensed soups in the aisle were gone, but stacks at a different aisle, front display on ground so not eye level.

NWT and Nunavut has no cases!

The more north you go, the better it looks like.
Get your seal clubbing equipment handy!

Edit - The Yukon is clean too :thumb:

Surprisingly, San Bernardino county which is about 30 - 40 miles from the "OC" as the crow flies has no reported cases (realize that it might be because there is a minimal number of test kits available; one child tested positive, but then negative both on test of a new sample and a retest of the original).

The other shoe just dropped. BOOM!

As I predicted a couple of days ago, a communist style authoritarian regime is coming to the United States, and this was one gigantic leap closer.

The CDC recommends organizers cancel or postpone events with 50 people or more for 8 weeks

(CNN)The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Sunday recommended that no gatherings with 50 people or more take place for the next eight weeks in an effort to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus.

The agency said these gatherings include conferences, festivals, parades, concerts, sporting events, weddings and other types of assemblies.
"Large events and mass gatherings can contribute to the spread of COVID-19 in the United States via travelers who attend these events and introduce the virus to new communities," the CDC said in its new guidelines.
The CDC recommended organizers "cancel or postpone in-person events that consist of 50 people or more throughout the United States." The recommendation does not apply to some organizations like schools or businesses.

The new guidance underscores just how much life in the United States will change as the country continues to fight the outbreak, and as officials nationwide order more schools, bars and restaurants to close.

Schools have 100's of people gathered together.
Trains and buses would have 50+ on each section
Gyms and Pools
Movie Theaters
Office Towers

Walked through a 2nd grocery store today.
That one had lots of TP
Canned soups were empty, same with bread. I should have looked to see about the flour, but it would be fully shelved with lots to choose from.

. . . . because people are cancelling concerts and parades.

Of course. It's not a response to a rapidly spreading virus, it's a secret conspiracy to let the commies take over.

Look! Under your bed! Another commie!

I think the concern everyone needs is not so much during as what are you going to do after? The guy didn't offer anything im the article, he never does, but the subject is important.

As for the guy hoping he'd already had it, there's a greater likely hood he's had something LIKE it, which would work just fine.

Ever heard of cowpox? For centuries, milk maids showed an amazing immunity to smallpox. Eventually it was discovered that the similarity to smallpox made the mild case of cowpox these women invariably had contracted made their immune system able to rebuff smallpox the moment it hit them.

What are the chances you've had something that now protects you? Too hard to say. But while it's too convenient for you to hold your breath for, it's not quite improbable.

Let's see: Commies kill people, the virus kills people, yeah it's probably a communist sympathizer.

Italy has been having a problem with its citizens getting older and older and living longer and no babies being born.
That might have something to do with whats happening over in Italy.

Cannot compare a regular cold and flu to this because the Chinese Virus is afterall an EPIDEMIC!
Its very serious!

Closing bars for St. Patrick’s Day might cause unrest and lead to Martial Law, already mentioned by California Governor Gavin Gruesome on the news today.

Yup, we are headed towards full scale martial law as well as economic collapse.

California governor directs all bars and nightclubs to close as coronavirus spreads

Gavin Newsom calls for bars, wineries, nightclubs and brewpubs in state to close and for all seniors to self-isolate

California governor Gavin Newsom has directed the closure of all bars, wineries, nightclubs and brewpubs in the state and called for all seniors age 65 years or older to stay in home isolation to curb the spread of coronavirus.

The directive came Sunday as it was announced that the virus had killed six people in California, with 335 cases confirmed – now the third largest number of cases in the nation, after Washington and New York.

“These are profoundly significant steps and they are significant steps from two days ago,” Newsom said in a news conference. “We’re guided deeply by what’s happening, not just by anxiety, not just by fear, but by a very pragmatic response to meet this moment without creating other unintended consequences.”

The announcement affects a $2.8bn nightlife industry, with an estimated 4,765 businesses in California.

Not to mention they're a highly religious group. With Ash Wednesday drawing them all to church it's no wonder it spread like wildfire there.

Oh, look, here comes Palm Sunday.

This is completely false to the point seems like intentional misinformation.

Really stop it, flat out dangerous.

The fatality rate from seasonal influenza is a tiny fraction of that of COVID-19.

Sure we lose 10-25K people each year to the former, and because it happens every year, considered normal.

When 500 million get the latter, or maybe only 100 million, a 2-3% fatality rate will be nothing to sneeze at.

The crisis is not "over" anywhere, the fact that the much more effective Asian societies have started to see a decline in the **acceleration rate** is due to their being so effective.

In the "freer democracies" that may well not happen for months or even years, and the exponential nature of the case count's growth could easily mean we lose well over 1% of our population within that timeframe.

Newsom also tightened the guidelines on visitation to seniors, limiting them only to end-of-life visits, including in hospital settings.

“We need to prioritize our focus,” Newsom said. “The most important thing is to protect our most vulnerable.”
