How to fix cross threaded magic pie axle. What thread pitch?

How far did you mar the threads? You may be able to cut off 1/4" or so of axle to get back to good threads.

Wood Frame Battery & Controller Case - heat question

Its too bad the box was not made with a little more room on the bottom of it, tat seems like it would be a decent place for the controller, as the heatsink fins would be parallel to the ground and the airflow.

Wood Frame Battery & Controller Case - heat question

Thing about controllers is the hotter they get , the less efficient they run , the less efficient they run, the more heat they generate, the more heat they generate... I think you see where this is going. In my experience it is imperative that the controller heatsinks see good airflow for...

First E-Bike build - Full suspension, geared & DD motor

Batteries have been holding up great so far, they seem even more efficient in 18s config, when I am not juicing on it. I have not been able to get in as much riding this year due to a baby on the way but I don't think my batteries have lost any capacity to tell you the truth. Granted, I only...

First E-Bike build - Full suspension, geared & DD motor

I know it's been awhile since I posted here but just wanted to say I rebuilt this bike again over winter 12-13. Now running a lyen 12 fet controller on 18s3p lipo arrangement. I also have enabled regen and it is amazing! Since I have regen I scrapped the disk in the rear and went with a V brake...

Weapon X to the moon middrive?

Hey guys sorry I missed the meetup on Sunday, let me know if you guys want to plan another. I'd like to check out this mid drive build. Gotta get the pedals working! Pedals are what separate bicycle from uninsured, unregistered motorcycle.

    Triangle battery bag

I agree with Dogman, my most recent case I used coroplast (ive built an full sheet aluminum box, and have a FEV bag) and it is a great material to work with. Super lightweight, very easy to fabricate, and provides plenty of protection. I cut slots in mine and ran velcro straps through, along...

    Need advice on tires

Im running the same CST cyclops tires that wes linked to. They really are a good tire for the price, the best i've found anyway. Only problem I have is they are so big I have to disassemble my backup rim V brake to remove the wheel. I am running mine with some heavy duty Giant downhill...

E-bike Brakes thread, please add what you know

Interesting thread. On my new build I used BB5 and 203mm rotors on the front, and on the rear, dual stage brakes. The rear lever activates regen first, then pulling more "V brakes" with kool stops second. This system replaced the BB5 and 203 on the rear. I can tell you the front disks are way...

    Using Chassis for Negative Ground?

I've done this by screwing down my lyen controller to the frame. No negative effects. No pun intended lol. Grounding to frame can actually help if the system is built and fused properly.

    2005 Kona Stinky GNG 1.0 build (mid-drive Stink-E) ABANDONED

Very nice build! Enjoyed reading your thread. Hub motors have some bad install traits to overcome, but nothing like this mid drive setup. Now you have me interested in the GNG kit! Having gears is a nice option.

    Conclusive proof gearboxes are awesome.

Gearboxes on electric motors is only good if you have a smaller motor for the job, hence the geared hubbies. Direct drive is the pure beauty of EV's, when it's done right. Lacking a transmission is a positive thing, less moving parts has a number of advantages. Even if you want to do some...

    Unstoppable Geared hub motor!

In my experiences DD hubs are better suited for serious off road use, all this sounds good in theory but making systems more complex usually introduces more points of failure.

first go and it tried to kill me - NIECE UPDATE !!!

I wouldn't trust that rear disk installation for a second. Terrible idea and worksmanship there. For starters, even if I were to endorse this sort of brake installation, it needs washers to spread the load of the bolt heads in those oversize holes, and Loctite on the bolts in ALL installations...

Wing in Wheel, Downwind faster than wind

I love the dedication. When I was young I was convinced I could take a motor and a generator, link the stator shafts, wire the output of the generator to the input of the motor, give it a spin, and violia! Free energy. I actually built a model as I didn't believe my engineering source (grandpa)...

    Dear America,

Thank you for your concern. Prior to the newton tragedy, I recall seeing newspaper ads for Walmart and Dick's every Sunday advertising AR-15's for $600-700. It was common place and totally accepted by the public. You could even get ammo, a scope and some camo in the same shopping trip. Walmart...

Caleb Moore dies after injuries in X Games crash

R.I.P. Caleb. One of my close friends died two weeks after his 30th birthday, on his Yamaha R6, doing triple digits. Wiped out and hit a light pole that cut his body in half, his torso and legs flew 200 feet in opposite directions. His name was Erik, and he was not a celebrity or well known...

Sounds like a bad controller to me. I like lyens controllers, high quality and he supports them. My theory is always buy more controller than you need ;-)
